Annual Folk Life Festival Hosted by Katy ISD

Katy Independent School District (KISD) is hosting the 32nd annual Folk Life Festival on Saturday April 1, 2017 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The Festival is being held as usual at the District’s Outdoor Learning Center (OLC). The OLC is located in Old or Historic Katy with its address being 6301 Stadium Dr. Katy TX. Admission is $1 per person.

Katy ISD Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) is situated on 35 acres of land which is kept in its natural state. All the building blend into the natural setting. The festival concept is for students to experience life as it was for early Texan’s. The buildings include history and science classrooms mixed in with a barn and a blacksmith shop.

Attendees will get to experience the OLC being transformed into a 1800’s Village complete with numerous time period activities and demonstrations such as Native American Demos , Blacksmith demos, ragdoll creation, honey bee keeping, Fiddle players, farm animals, pioneer cooking, archery, weaving, roping skills, corn husking, shelling & grinding plus several others. All visitors will have the option to walk nature trails, visit several of exhibits at the science and history classrooms and visit the nature pond.

If you want more information go to this web site.

I wish I had the time this coming Saturday to attend as this sounds like a wonderful learning experience. lI will be at the Fort Bend County Animal Services Shelter in the morning and I have two repair groups coming in the afternoon.

This looks like it will be a day full of fun! If it's any consolation, I won't be able to make it either  Hope those repair teams don't keep you waiting around forever!

Bob love places like this, there was one in Sturbridge MA and I could not go enough times to Sturbridge Village, to see what life was like in the 1800's. There was a place in CT too Mystic Seaport.... just as fun, Endre
