Bob Gilbert's Katy Blog: TBT - Rome and Hip Replacement Surgery..

TBT - Rome and Hip Replacement Surgery..

TBT - Rome and Hip Replacement Surgery..

Six years ago to this day I had hip replacement surgery. I was placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) after surgery as my blood pressure was extremely low  and at dangerous level. My body was filled with morphine via an IV to kill the pain. I was aware of what was going on but the morphine was clouding my basic judgement. Yolanda was worried enough to potentially become  sick!

Yolanda could not spend the night as the unit was locked down at some point in time and there was no bathroom in my room. Yolanda stayed as long as she could and did not want to leave but certainly it was necessary for her not to stay all night.

I was awakened in the early morning hours of the next day by an alarm and blinking light. My mind said some poor person (SOB) in here just set off the emergency alarms due to a major issue. My mind thought what the heck happened? Next thing I know I see several people running into my room. In super slow motion it dawns on me the poor person (SOB) was none other than me! Even with being heavily sedated it was a  very scary few minutes in my life for me.

I could on and on about my horrible surgery experience but will stop here as this is the Holiday/Christmas season. time to think positive happy thoughts! Rome!!

Days before the surgery we had traveled to Rome and had a fabulous time. So many great sites and places to see and visit. Wonderful cuisine, wine and people. I was really happy I got this opportunity to visit Rome for a few days and the surgery encounter certainly reinforced my feeling about this trip.

Here are a few of the picture I took on that trip. These days I would have taken several hundred pictures ( if not more) but that was not the case back in 2010!

Bob,

Would not mind going to Rome again.  We were there during the Christmas Holiday several years ago.  I love the Italian decorations, each town is distinctly different, no copy cats whatsoever.  A

Bob

So sorry to hear about your surgery experience. Glad it all worked out.

The photos of Rome bring back such happy memories - I've seen all those sights...maybe not THAT cat but certainly many others. I would love to go back.

Bob,

Again I did not get points for comments I am getting so tired of this no one else seems to have the problem is it rigged?

Your pictures are great. That is a really good one of you and Yolanda.

That cat looks truly fat.

It looks like I might be getting another feral (heavy with kittens) to the shelter. I think she knows my plan and she isn't coming around like she normally does. But I'll get her.

That's a frightening story about your hip replacement, Bob!  But your pictures of Rome are wonderful!  I'm glad everything turned out ok with your surgery, and you had those memories of your trip taken just before.

CONGRATULATIONS on having this blog FEATURED in the PHOTOS group!

Bob,this is bringing back memories of getting new knees, and they did make my next trip to Paris a whole lot easier than the one I took a few months before surgery.  I hope your new hip is friendlier now.
