Almost Speechless Sunday - Antique Phone

This antique phone is located in our friend’s Condo in New York City. The phone still is operational and is connected to a direct line to the reception desk. I like antiques of just about any nature and especially old phones or phone booths.

That's very cool. What a neat collectible!

My sister used to have an old black rotary phone that still worked.

Hi Bob... I actually remember having a phone like that in our home in the early 1950's! Maybe I shouldn't admit that.

That phone makes a nice conversation piece, Bob. I like it. I have one that cranks and mounts on the wall. It's even older than the one you have shown. It's a nice piece.

Pick up the ear piece, blow into it a couple of times and hope the operator is not on break

Now, that is just plain weird!  What, you ask?  That phone. . .I have one identical to it, and was just thinking I should take my picture with it for a blog.  Perhaps, later this week I'll do just that!

Life was much more simple back in the day Bob. Are things better these days? I often wonder.

Those were used in the day of the party lines. People could listen in on the neighbors conversations and know everything that was going on. The gossip would spread.

Our phones had dialers at my first real estate office. And, we had no cell phones.

I love it Bob.  I used to have an old pay phone in my office until the wife made me sell it.

That is very cool, I love seeing things from the past.  I have seen one of those before, but never used one.  We have come so far in the technology of telephones!

I had forgotten the dial phones. And how sometimes a neighbor would inadvertantly be included in the conversation, and join in. Once I dialed directory assistance, and was connected to a wrong number; the person on the other side was still friendly, and tried to help and look up the number for me in the Yellow pages.
