News Alert - HAR News Release of May 2016 Houston Real Estate Market

 

I think reading this Houston Association of Realtors news release concerning the May 2016 Houston Real Estate market ( link provided below) is important to all consumers and especially to both existing and potential home buyers and sellers. We have seen a substantial amount of pessimism being expressed by various groups concerning the Houston Market. The May market report paints a different picture in my opinion.  

 

The Single-Family homes update section of this HAR report contains a break out by housing price point segment which is revealing. May Sales for homes priced at $500,000 and above has decreased by 6.5 % as compared to May 2015. This is exactly what I thought was occurring. I suspect as we get into the luxury markets the percentage of decrease will increase by a fairly large amount.

 

It is important to remember all real estate is local and each home needs to examined on its own market merits which is based on numerous factors.  The numbers in this report are an aggregated by the entire houston Metroplex which covers a huge geographical area.
