City of Houston : 2015 Veterans Day Parade & Celebration

The  City of Houston will hold its Annual very Special Veterans Day Celebration and Parade on Wednesday November 11, 2015. The events will begin at 9 AM with all activities occurring in downtown Houston. If traffic cooperates driving into the City of Houston from Katy should take no more than 35-45 minutes. Some folks have Veteran’s day off.

The Veterans Day celebration will hold a moment of silence in memory of all of all Veterans  The festivities will begin with the Sixth annual AT&T Veterans Job & Resource Fair starting at 9 AM with 30 plus companies participating . US Family Health Plan Veterans Health Fair will also begin at 9 AM. Free health screenings and flu shots will be available. A special ceremony to honor Veterans and military personnel will be held including a 21 Gun Salute. Following the various ceremonies will be the Annual Veterans Day Parade presented by H-E-B.  The Ceremonies and talks will be held at City Hall.

As last year, Houston Mayor Annise Parker invites everyone to join in the festivities. She has said in the past the City of Houston has held the course every year hosting this celebration while many other cities cancelled these types of activities. Recent times are finding many cities returning to the fold of holding a special celebration for their Veterans. This trend is increasing each and every year. Houston and surrounding areas has an estimated 300K plus Veterans calling this area home. She asked all folks who work in downtown to come out to thank all of our Veterans for their service.

I think we all need to Thank all Veterans all throughout any given year and not just on special days. I have known several Veterans and have meet many more and they all deserve recognition and the Thanks from the people of this Nation.

Seems as this year has just passed by so quickly and now it's Veterans Day already. Be safe and give our Yolanda a big hug.

Sounds like a full day of festivities celebrating Katy Veterans. I like that they will do a 21-gun salute.
